FDR - divorce my advice after hearing hold your nerve

I have found very little advice on here about what exactly you get as a settlement. I divorced a high earner after he had an affair. There was approx 450k equity in house and he took all the savings as in his name approx 60k. At the FDR he had spent all the savings and had taken out finance on a 40k car etc and put himself on an emergency tax code so only earns 3k a month . He offered me 240k the Judge said he had no money and I should accept. As they don’t see evidence he was believed. I held my nerve and my sol was great I had evidence of the funds he deliberately spent and that he earns over 100k told him 350k or I would see him cross examined at a final hearing. In the end he accepted. For all those going through this stick to what you believe in and don’t go below your bottom line if you want a house for you and your kids especially if your spouse has dissipated funds. I did all the paperwork and used a sol for Court and ad hoc advice cost me about 6k well worth it.

Congrats.

Been through this myself and it is disgraceful that a person who's children you have and still raise, who looked you in the eye and made marriage vows to, can behave so appallingly - they are almost supported in doing this by the shit system in our country. It really does not look out for women and it aids sneaky deceitful men.

I just got my divorce finalised in Court after 3 years of absolute hell.

Well done!
