Can anyone recommend a good divorce solicitor in the Cambridge area?

Hi, just wondered if anyone can recommend a good divorce solicitor in the Cambridge area? I intend to divorce my husband as I have recently found out he is in a new relationship with his ex mistress. (I know, I know…)

I used Barr Ellison for mine. They were very good.

Can I PM you some names and suggestions? Also, what sort of money bracket will the divorce be as that will affect the choice of solicitor. i.e. is there a large amount of money at stake or relatively small amount?

Thank you. There is a large amount of money at stake, my husband is a very successful business man, with stocks, shares, pensions, expensive house, and a lot of assets. So it’s not going to be easy! I have mainly been a housewife for Ontono marriage, which is also long one. Two adult kids of 18 and 19 years of age. Yes I too am sorry about the mistress reating her incredibly ugly head again. Shouldn’t have taken him back in the first place should I?! Feel such a fool… Yes please message me with names and anything else you can find. I would be so grateful. Intend to start all this as soon as possible, I’m not messing about.

Yes, he knows I know as we had a massive confrontation about it. He knows I’m contemplating divorce, which he isn’t keen on for some strange reason. He actually thinks it would be perfectly fine to live with me and the kids and house and all that goes with it and have his mistress on the side as a permanent fixture. Maybe some people can do this, but I just can’t. My self-respect is low enough as it is already!

One of y friends used Barr Ellison in Cambridge who were good, but there weren't huge assets etc apart from the marital home.

Good luck. We had a long marriage and then divorce, although we both worked full time so like all divorces each is very very different from others. As your older children are 18 or over that will affect the divorce by the way so perhaps a pity you took him back when they were under 18 and did not do the divorce then. Anyway your solicitor can advise.

Also at the end of the day youare likely to get about half the joint assets one debts are taken off like mortgages and probably want a clause like we had about who pays for university by the way (ours says I pay as I earned more). Your husband might be happy to pay you off for a clean break and no one going maintenance but with a pension sharing order. Once your solicitor advises on a likely range of financial outcomes you can reach agreement on an amount. We had no court hearings and negotiated a sum for a clean break.

As someone indicates above get all the information now about your own assets, his, each of your pensions, his P60s or his company accounts, shareholdings, look at companise house website if needs be, get your marriage cert and important documents and don't leave the house,. We were both advised to stay put until the whole thing was finalised.
