Separation/divorce: lasting power of attorney, next of kin.

This is going to sound odd, because it is.

If one goes down the separation route, amicably, does that per se invalidate any powers of attorney that have been set up? Ditto divorce? I assume not, that they would need to be redrawn with someone else if one so wanted: is that right?

But what about next of kin? Does divorce automatically invalidate that between now ex spouses? What happens there?

Powers of attorney unaffected by divorce unlike wills.

Thanks, MrsS. What about next of kin?
