I'm in the process of splitting up with my partner and really need some funny books to make me laugh right now? Any suggestions for books that will make me weep with laughter? Fiction or non fiction fine. I'm x posting this.

E by Matt Beaumont. Absolutely hilarious. Novel about emails between people working at an advertising agency. There's a Christmas short novel and a sequel too.

Alan Partridge on audiobook is ace (if you're a fan of course)

I also love anything by Bill Bryson but especially The Lost Continent.

Also, not just laugh out loud funny but great for when you're going through a hard time (I read it after DH left me) is Wild by Cheryl Strayed

PS I'm sorry you are going through this. It's a cliche but it will get better. If you need something cheesy in that regard try the book of Eat Pray Love (it's a lot less vom-inducing than the film, I promise)

Another recommendation for Bill Bryson. The lost continent is my favourite but Notes from a Small Island also really funny.

Maybe only for lovers of old books but I am rereading The Plague and I by Betty MacDonald and laughing uncontrollably.

Another hand up for Bill Bryson here, and also an old autobiography by Maureen Lipman from about 1988. It had me crying with laughter when I read it.

100 times yes. Even in written form. I remember laughing pretty much constantly while reading it.

Anything by PG Wodehouse

Brilliant! Thanks for these. I've just finished Rob Delaney (he of Catastrophe) autobiography which made me howl with laughter in parts. Just started one of David Sedaris (American hunourist) books too which is also quite good. And have ordered Sara Pascoes book Animal too. I need it after the day I've had - epic tantrums (not mine), dose of worms from nursery, gammy twisted knee and didn't get job I thought I was a shoe in for. Finding my pleasures where I can.

Have we forgotten Bridget Jones Diary and The Secret Diary of Adrian Moles, aged 13 3/4?
And as affectioninacoldclimate said, anything by PJ Whoodhouse,
also perhaps Cold Comfort Farm? - more of a chuckle than a LOL but spirited and brilliant.
Niki you are due a break soon!
