Dad been gone for months - how to start contact now?

My child hasn't seen her dad since October last year. No contact. No phone calls. Nothing.

He wants to see her now. She's 3. She doesn't talk about him much anymore but I know it would good for her to have regular contact - probably... (I'm worried about his commitment to consistent, regular contact and I don't want to expose her to being let down again...)

Anyway, how to start their relationship again? He wants her for the weekend ...

A few hours per visit to start with is reasonable.
5 months is a long time to a 3 yo and she has probably changed a bit since he last spent time with her. They need to get used to each other again.

Build up the contact until DD is comfortable with dad and you are comfortable that he can care for her over night/weekend.
