What do you wish you'd known at the begin ?

Might help others going through the inital awful stages.
Mine are rip the plaster off quickly. Took two years of him utterly shafting me and the kids for me to realise the nicer and more reasonable I was - of course they never see it that way - the more of an Arse he became.
You are now alone and probably broke, accept that as earlier as possible and adjust to it quickly, you can build yourself up from there but only if you get the divorce through ASAP. Otherwise you will be peanalised for getting your shit together when they don't.

That he wouldn't stick to the verbal agreement he made for spousal maintenance.
That moving out of the family home was the worst financial decision I could ever have made.
That who got to keep the house really shouldn't have been based on the fact that it was me that originally wanted to end the marriage.

If you have an obstructive ex, then DO go to Court as early as possible! Wasted 2 years trying to avoid it, as everyone said it was horrendously expensive, but with an ex set on delaying the divorce (doesn't want me to move on and live with new partner) it is the only way to get there.
