How much did your consent order cost?

We're agreed on finances and don't want to go after each other's pensions or future business interests. Just want a clean break.

I can be exempt from court costs due to low income but wondered how much it cost people to have the consent order drawn up (I'm not exactly flush). I've found an online soliciter who'll do it for a flat fee of 150 but not sure if this is a good idea or not. My local soliciter will offer a free consultation if I then engage them but otherwise it's £100

Anyone?

We did online £150 and then I think there was a court fee of 40. Worked fine.

Lawpack do Divorce and Seperation packs from £12 ; your divorce has to be very straightforward, which yours sounds like it will be. I don't know too much about it though, but worth a look.

Mine was v straight forward - in that we had already sorted out the details and I had actioned the land registry transfer of the property into my name only (no mortgage which can complicate it) and we had divided our cash assets between us.
Consent order was basically listing assets and division and dismissing any future claims.
Solicitor had quoted £250+VAT when I spoke to her on phone and outlined what I needed, when I actually saw her, and took everything in and went through it she then emailed consent order and reduced fee to £150+VAT as there was very little fir her to do.
No advice in this situation obviously.

Do you own a property together? If so someone usually a solicitor will need to do the property transfer and if you have a mortgage as stated above then it's more complex and your lender will require a solicitor be used - make sure you are sure what is covered by the quote from a solicitor. Also if the terms reached are not fair the judge might reject them so that might be a bit of extra legal cost if that were to happen.
