Change mortgage to interest only while divorce is ongoing?

ExH and I separated in Dec 2013, he moved out and I have been living in the family home with DS since. During this period I have been paying the mortgage and all household costs. Mediation has failed and we have our first court appointment in Nov. I gather that I am unlikely to be reimbursed my mortgage payments in the interim as it is assumed I would have needed to spend the money on rent somewhere else if I did not stay in the family home. I wondered yesterday if I would be better off changing the mortgage payments to interest only until the divorce is sorted. We have a very low base rate tracker deal so to do this would mean my payments would be very small and obviously any money I can save is good. Does this sound like a good idea? I am wishing I thought of it two years ago!
