Children going on holiday with Dad

My 6 yr old does not want to go away camping with her dad, despite her older sister being very excited about going. I have tried various ways to increase her enthusiasm and have finally compromised by saying if she really wants to come home I will go and collect her. We separated 7mths ago but he has only had them once over night due to not having his own place to live - his choice not mine. Has anyone got any advice?

I think it would really help if he could have them for a night or so before the camping trip...in a house! Also, has DD been camping before? Could you do a practice night in the garden with her? Make it all fun with marshmallows and torches etc/...she may be worried about what to expect.

Is there anyway u can build up the overnights before they go? And maybe dc worried u will be on your own or sad? I'd encourage as much as u can. Mine are going for first time too in two weeks. We've been building up to it with increasing time they are at his over last month. It breaks me but know it's best for them.
