Hi, I have $30k in credit card debt and all of the cards are in my name how does that go when talking divorce? We have no assets whatsoever.

the debt is in your name so you are liable for it....unless your partner wants to take on some of it - which they probably don't seeing as you're asking here.

If we are talking about English law (pounds not dollars) you are personally liable. The creditor cannot come after your husband.

However when assets are divided the debts are considered too. As there are no assets to divide it might be if your husband is a much higher earner he might want a clearn break settlement with no future maintenance claims from you and that might involve him paying off all the debt or part of it with a binding court consent order saying that ends his financial obligations to you. if he does not earn more then it is likely you will be left with the debt.
