Can my ex husband who is still on the mortgage stop me moving house at some point in the future?

Yes, afaik, he can.
I had to have my ex sign a paper giving me permission to sell, before the estate agent could put it on the market.
This was some years ago now, but I wouldn't think it has changed.

He can't stop you moving house but he can stop you selling the house. Is he just on the mortgage or on the deeds as an owner as well ( I assume the latter).

You'd have to apply to court to sell the house if he refuses x

Also he might have a right to a share in the proceeds. Have you got a final consent order on the divorce settling the finances and his share of the property?

Presumably if selling the house gets him his share of cash and means he is not lumbered with being liable on the loan and means it is easier for him to get a different mortgage himself elsewhere your selling the house will be very very good news for him (unless it involves moving his children far away).
