My friend has been in a long-term relationship with a man who is not British (Nordic countries). They have a toddler. They bought a property together but he is not willing to pay his part. They always fight and have arguments. I always hear that he constantly skips buying food or to pay for other things. My friend has to do it but she cannot take it longer anymore. She does not have thousands to pay a lawyer, so I am thinking to suggest her a no win no fee one. Any suggestions or should she contact CAB? She wants him to pay part of the mortgage without delays and contribute to bringing up their child. He can afford but stingy.

I have never heard of this in family law area. Probably as it is not seen as winning or losing, but as reaching an agreement. There maybe firms who would consider delaying fees till settlement is reached.
The other alternative which I have used is interest free credit card to spread the payments further or till settlement is reached.

No win no fee is unlawful for family law disputes.

For all those who are battling a financial dispute for divorce - I strongly advise you to say psalm 35 and 91 every day to win the Victory. It gives me great comfort. I’m battling a gambler who has minus £1645 in his account even though he earns £64000 a year. Worse still he lives above me in our one bedroom flat. He is after an inheritance I disclaimed along with my siblings 4 years ago which he knew about at the time. He owes my parents £80000 for a mortgage he left unpaid in 2006 on a house we bought in Ireland that was sold last year after the banks threatened repossession. He says now no agreement was in place. He never spent a penny to maintain house n mortgage on both properties is £40000 more than what we bought them for 19 years ago. He took out over £120000 in personal loans n has nothing to show for them. He won’t help me with kids and turns them against me. They don’t see any bad in him. Next hearing jan judge ruled my parents have to sue him themselves n she wants details of this inheritance n why I disclaimed it. This man does not deserve one penny.
