Divorce and bank accounts

I'm asking this question on behalf of a friend:
When assets are being considered in a divorce, how does it work with bank accounts?

If one person has their own separate account, does the money in that account remain soley theirs? I'm presuming that the balance of a joint account is divided 50:50.

TIA

Capital tends to get divided. This could include savings in a bank account. A normal balance in a current account will not constitute savings.

Thank you.
