Please help! My ex partner wants a paternity test...

Hello all,

My long-term partner and I have separated and he's requesting that I participate in a paternity test for our 18 month old son. I'm not entirely happy about this, as it questions my integrity, but I think I'm willing to do it if it put his mind at rest.

I could do with some advice though, because I am a little hesitant... Has anyone had experience of doing this before? If so, is it a simple and quick process? I just want to get everything sorted as soon as possible and avoid putting my family through any unnecessary stress. Am I able to buy one on the high street? Boots perhaps?

Thanks,

Lisa

It may put his mind at rest, but more importantly it will prove that he is responsible for helping financially for the next 16 1/2 years.

I'd go with a proper one

I tell you whatvyou do need to do though -be there when he takes the test so you can be sure he doesn't send a mate.

Sorry if that sounds terribly cynical

Sorry, meant to say, that list is the companies that do court ordered tests. If they don't do them outside of that I bet they'd be able to advise you.

Thanks for all your advice.

I decided to follow ImTooHecsyForYourParty's words of wisdom and go with one of the companies on the MoJ list (who actually have a paternity test in Boots!). Luckily, their customer services department were great and gave me all the help I needed.
