Has anyone ever spilt child tax credits upon splitting (50/50 custody)

Me and DH are currently trying to seperate. He is insisting on 50/50 custody with dc's which I am happy with but wants to split the tax credits.

Can this be done? as only 1 parent can claim them

Just give him half when they come through. I don't think they can split it as there has to be one primary carer in their eyes.

You could have an arrangement whereby you claim child benefit and tax credits for different children. That would possibly maximise your overall take as well.

Am I being really dim but wouldn't you have to do a change of circumstances for the tax credits so it doesn't matter what you want? I mean the tax credit people will decide.

Or did you mean child benefit?
