What exactly is involved in mediation?

I am attending my initial assessment next week and just wondered what's involved then and afterwards.

Is it all to discuss child access and finances? Do I have to talk about us and why I fInd it difficult to talk to him?

Do they talk or do they just make us talk?

How did the 1st meeting go skyebluesapphire? Am getting details in order & booking appointment in next month myself with a mediator - if OH will actually come!

First meeting was an assessment - gathering all my details, confirming that Im entitled to Legal Aid and a brief outline of the situation.

I have got my first appointment with STBXH next Thursday. Not looking forward to it, but it is so necessary as we just end up arguing by email all the time.
