finalising finances, child maintenance query

Hi

I'm in the final stages of finalising finances, and my ex has suggested via the solicitor, that even though he should pay more in child maintenance as per the CSA, I should take into consideration the expenses of travelling to continue contact with the DCs (one weekend a fortnight, 65miles there and back). His parents do all the dropping off picking up, so I guess he pays their petrol etc.

Also he has asked that I take over paying the £50 per child, into their trust funds every month.

Is this common practice?

Many thanks

No it isn't! The CSA will advise you on a reduction of maintenance due to travelling costs but the requirement is a lot more than 65 miles twice a month!! Re the child trust fund - up to him if he continues to pay it or not I reckon but if you can't afford to then you shouldn't either.
