Hi all. I am considering the 5:2 fasting Diet. I understand the need to approach this cautiously, with lots of monitoring. Has anyone else given it a go? Thanks

You should have no problems fasting if on MDI so long as your basal is set correctly. It’s important for T1 on MDI to fast regularly to check their basal doses. On a pump you would also take this approach unless on a hybrid closed loop.

if on mixed insulin you must not fast until changed to a more modern regime

Thank you. I’m not on a pump. Am MDI. I am on basal (split dose) and rapid for bolus.
i do have a Dexcom 6 CGM. So with this in mind, I might give it a go. What do you think?

If you’re on MDI you should already be fasting semi regularly to check that your basal dose and the way you split it is accurate

My Kings consultant has never suggested that, but I can def see the logic. I know that my nighttime dose is good as I’m static through the night. Thank you for the advice 😊
