Hey everyone,

I have type one diabetes and I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced Diabetic Mastopophy and noticed a difference in the amount that boob grows?

It's a bit niche but one boob is defo growing bigger than the other 🙈🙊

Hey
I have type 1 diabetes and mastopathy diagnosed in a breast last year after docs thinking I had cancer. I am not pregnant though so I am afraid I can't advise on your particular issue. But as it's inflammatory I guess it could be responding to hormone changes? Apparently it is less common in post-menopausal women.

Have you been diagnosed with Diabetic mastopathy previously? Just wanted to reach out if so as it seems to be very uncommon.

If you're concerned about your breast I would seek help from your healthcare team.

Also have you had to increase insulin in your pregnancy? I seem to remember dosages change. As there is a correlation between insulin and D mastopathy I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Hey! Thanks for your reply! ☺️ I had the same thing, found it around 5 years ago and had all of the screening tests, the breast specialist I saw had been in the game a long time so lucky for me was able to tell me about it and had seen it before, unfortunately though, no one has really had any insight on DM and what happens in this situation!
All I can say is that one boob is now considerably larger than the other and I'm still fairly early on in my pregnancy! 😂
Insulin increases are happening daily with hormonal changes, my boobs are too sore to have a proper prod around to feel if the lump has changed but if I get a good day then I'll check and report back! ☺️

I find the lump gets really swollen and sore if I dig around too.
Are you wearing maternity bras yet? Maybe your old bra is aggravating it.
I would err on side of caution and mention it with your healthcare team just incase!
