Hello. I'm newly diagnosed but I have had symptoms for many years, 20 years ago I started having hypo attacks & the GP I think didn't connect them, I had two in about 2 years - I've only just realised that this is what they were after reading the information the diabetes nurse gave me Both times I'd skipped lunch & so it really fits the profile. I am a regular eater hence I've not had any since. Could this mean that I have had this for all these years without knowing?
I've always been a thirsty person even as a child I was always glugging water that's not changed.

Fast forward 20 years & I have been really tired, always needing the toilet etc so asked for a test (my mother has it anyway).
I've also been really stressed out so thought tiredness might be that but blood test came back positive so might be a bit of both.

So I've also been a vegan for years. I've never eaten meat in my adult life.
Are there any vegan diabetics who can give me tips on what to eat that will help?

Thank you!

I’m neither diabetic or vegan but wanted to post a link to diabetes uk. They have a vegan meal plan online that might give you some ideas.

Hi 👋🏼 I’m a vegan type 1. So breakfast might be vegan yoghurt and berries, or beans on toast, vegan pancakes (weekend treat) or avocado on toast, sometimes porridge but that makes my BMs go really high.
lunch is maybe a salad but with pulses/lentils for protein and maybe some roasted veg like sweet potato, or maybe pasta again with homemade sauce and veg, or a curry. Dinner will be something like lunch or soup or jacket potato. I use a lot of deliciously Ella’s recipes but on the app she doesn’t put the nutritional value so it’s a pain as you’ve got to work out how many carbs are per portion. I do eat treats when I fancy it I just take extra insulin.
have you had your B12 levels checked, I gave B12 injections every 3 months and take multivitamins and vitamin d daily.
good luck
