Hi all, first time pregnancy, up until about 19 weeks i was taking double amount of fast acting insulin with meals and getting good sugars but having to catch hypos in between. Hba1c =36.
I feel i have hit a wall now at 20 weeks and need to take way more insulin- 60units for 60g carb to get 1 hour after eating levels within range.
I haven’t increased my long acting much- 8units.
Anyone had a similar experience? or any tips?

Congrats on your pregnancy. I remember having a real jump on my basal at one point, I think I gradually increased probably about 10 units over a week (for context I started on about 18 units and finished pregnancy on about 45)

My ratios did all increase at the same time too, I can't remember exactly when, but definitely remember it being quite quick.

If your basal is still right (I always went off of my line on my libre overnight) then go for the ratios.

Good luck ☺️

I would speak to your DSM about upping your ratios & also about CGM. You qualify for it as you are pregnant.

I had terrible resistance while I was pregnant earlier in the year. The DSN I saw every week told me to increase my ratios my 2 units every 3rd day until I had it under control but it was continous really until I had her.

Im In a really good Facebook group called "type 1 diabetic pregnancy UK" it's really helpful and full of women like me who have been through it and women like yourself who are pregnant now.
