Im sure I have oral thursh, I have a dr phoning me tomorrow but I went to 2 pharmacies and both mentioned thrush so I bought some oral gel.
My anxiety isn't coping well, so googled it. now it seems to be a common of diabetes, I am obese. but I don't have any other signs, my tongue is white, and I have loose skin at the sides like ive been biting my tongue..
Im not thirsty, I am drinking more as I have a weird 'feeling' in my mouth. but its not dry or painful, and I don't feel like I have to drink. . im not urinating any more than usual (I don't wake up at all when im asleep, once im gone im gone) I do have more mucus in my mouth though lately, but don't think I have cold.
No weird weight loss/gain..
Due to lock down my anxiety/mood has been all over so dental hasn't been a priority (im working on that now), which I believe could be the problem, but I cant convince myself of this.
I do have cavities, I was meant to have fillings but we went into lock down. So have occasional pain in my tooth but nothing major.
I wear glasses, and beginning of this year I had to go to hospital as they found something in my eye when they scanned me. She asked me questions (nothing diabetic related, I dot think. she asked me if I had headache and I never do. my eyesight also wasn't a drastic change as I was told by multiple staff that I didn't even really need a new prescription, this was 3 years after my first eye test) and gave me the all clear. I know eye tests can pick up on diabetes so assumed if it was a chance I would of been asked.
Im drinking more alcohol than I usually would. not much more than usual though. but im not sure if that could be a cause too so just listing everything possible.

Im just worried, I know I shouldn't google. but I cant help myself. im a wreck. im really hoping someone can help.
Also im not prone to thrust, I had vaginal thrush once when I was pregnant with my daughter over 6 years ago.

thank you

Have you had antibiotics recently?

I've got oral thrush now (at least I think that's what it is!) after a course of ABs. My mouth is gross.

Please try not to panic. Talk to the doc. There are many causes most of which innocuous.

I've been googling to see what was up with my grim mouth and it said in rare cases it was related to diabetes.
Try not to worry, good luck Smile

Thank you for the reply. No no medication recently, or in a very long time. I rarely visit the doctors at all if I'm honest, which I'm not sure is good or bad.

My mouth isn't overly bad, its just the sides where it seems like I'm biting. And I know I tend to push my tounge up to my teeth.

I know i shouldn't worry, but this lockdown has set my anxiety off and I never was like this before.. i know googling didn't help but everything pointed to diabetes 😔

Lockdown is difficult and stressful for many.

Are you on treatment for your anxiety?

I've been boozing like mad which probably isn't helping. I'm not prone to thrush either and never had oral thrush before. At least I assume that's what it is. My tongue is seriously gross.

My googling said that most times dodgy tongue is due to poor dental hygiene... That plus stress = not good.

Talk to the doc tomorrow I'm sure it's nothing.
Also discuss your anxiety. I am back on ADs since lockdown, so I understand.

kira1991 · 30/06/2020 00:32

no, I havent. As its something that has just come on. Like many at this time. And ive been feeling better, not great but better this last 3 weeks till today 😭

I'm hoping, it because of poor hygiene, which im making sure I'm doing now and stress, im currently working from home 3 children so can be stressful trying to juggle customers and kids.

Do you find you need to drink more? Not because of thirsty like i dont need to drink but i have this feeling in my mouth and I just want it to go away 🤣

Yes my mouth tastes manky!

Please do talk to the gp about the anxiety as well. Yes? They can help x

kira1991 · 30/06/2020 00:48

I will do. I already mentioned it on the phone to the receptionist earlier as she wanted to give me a call back in a few days and I knew I wouldn't be able to wait.

Yeah, its really weird to explain. I was trying earlier at the pharmacy and I'm like just look at my tounge 😂

Just hoping, even if its just a case of thrush that it gives me the kick i need to take care of myself, my diet everything.

Thank you for replying. It has helped massively.

No probs :)

Definitely discuss the anxiety. I found meds helped more than talking therapy but everyone is different.

Your probably just run down, please don't worry, and good luck with the doc tomorrow xx

Just got off the phone with my dr.
She was really helpful said the chances of diabetes is low. But if this thrush is reoccurring it could be..
But I have no other symptoms of diabetes..
The thing I'm worried about was my thirst. Im not thirsty but this weird taste/feeling is wanting to make me drink. Like I got up at 8, brushed my teeth, mouth wash and had a drink of water then didnt drink again till almost 10.30. So i don't think I've excessive thirst. Is this normal for you too?
Also spoke about my eye test I had and she said they would of probably picked up on it then, especially with me going to hospital etc. I spoke about my diet and everything. Im still anxious but feel better.
I also spoke about my mental helath and she said I should refer myself, and she likes that I'm open and honest with everything.

We spoke about my diet too and she said slimming world is the best place to go, which I have done before so going to do that.
Were also looking at push bikes, 😫🤣 so im going to keep at it

So thank you for your response.. it helped me loads

Glad it went well and has referred you on about the anxiety.

Good luck with everything and try not to worry about diabetes. Doesn't sound like you're drinking too much water to me!
