My husband was diagnosed with diabetes type 2 back in March he has been put on Metformin has radically changed his diet and in 3 months went from 88 to 39 bloods obviously really good. However his mood swings are soooooo horrific I am struggling to be around him. We have 4 children late teens early twenties who all report the same and the worst is he has NO clue he is like this. He is not usually arruot but frankly at the moment I feel like we are living w Victor Meldrew. We have 1 doing Al levels this year 1 GCSE so you can imagine the hormones flying around here. I have on research seen it has to do with blood sugar but I will say I have not noticed it when they are low when high he gets very tired and sleeps so I guess the mood swings are when he is hungry.. or when climbing up
He has lost a LOT of weight more than I think is healthy and I worry he is not eating enough
However when I try to have that conversation with him he gets very irate claiming I just don't get how important his diet is (He is doing low carb) I do but I also think he needs a sensible calorie intake. Her has been on 1200 many weeks no where near enough IMO he blames this on the Metformin will not hear he needs to wat more.
How have others coped with this early stage? I want to support him but I also want to support my 4 children who are at key education stages and he seems hell bend on ignoring our concerns.
