Anyone else just find it’s impossible that shift anything?

I’m finding it really demoralising. 😢

Yes I do too.

I'm trying to reduce my carb intake and therefore my insulin intake which seems to be working so far.

Trying to adjust my bolus to avoid the hypos to make it easier though.

Diabetes sure knows how to make things difficult!!!

ArkAtEee · 18/06/2018 21:05

Yep. Really easy to put it on though! Hmm Grin

Same here Sad

I've lost just shy of a stone in about 10 weeks. But nothing in the last 3. I'm thoroughly bored of being so strict and not seeing results. My control is tighter though.
I agree low carb has got to be the way to go. Reducing insulin has only got to be a good thing? All the tiny t1s I know have a v small amount of daily insulin -fucking compared to me! I know that's because they are smaller, but I think they are v closely linked iyswim.

I don't think I meant to swear than! Grin I guess I do it so much predictive text changed it.

Well done user Star

user1471530109 · 18/06/2018 22:11

Thank you, mouse.
But I feel determined to do the extra push this time. It's really crept on over the last 5 years.

I'm officially giving myself another kick up the bum! No more sneaky carbs (had a slice of bread at work today) and I'm going to cut the wine (I think I've had a glass pretty much every night this last week or so).

I've checked my pump and my daily total of insulin has really crept up. I honestly think this is a key thing. I'm 10u down on yesterday so that's a positive start! I'm aiming for under 30u total for the next few days then to cut that slightly over the next week. May basal is 22u so this should be more than doable!

Out of interest, those of you looking to lose weight, what's your total daily insulin?

GlassSuppers · 19/06/2018 07:48

My daily basal total is 55u! Before pump it was 50am and 40pm so at least it's came down I guess.

Wonder what makes us need so much, I'm 5ft 2 and have 2 stone to loose so I'm not that huge!

It's hard because insulin is a fat storing hormone which is why I'm opting for less carb. I'm also trying to exercise daily so I can reduce my basal for that period and try to loose a bit more.

It's torture at times.
Especially when you exercise.. and then hypo Angry cue eating more than you burnt off. Aggghhhh!!

between4and7 · 21/06/2018 16:03

I'm on MDI and on 22u total but I do an active job. My weight stays the same no matter how little I eat or cut back on carbs. Damn artificial insulin. I blame that anyway Grin

PolkaDotHats · 21/06/2018 18:59

I think insulin stimulates the appetite. I have bad insulin resistance so am on 24 units Levemir am and 18 pm and 2 units of novorapid to 10g of carbs.

between4and7 · 21/06/2018 22:52

It def stimulates the appetite I agree. Pre diabetes I was never hungry now I'm constantly hungry!
