Caring for a Loved One with Dementia Seeking Support & Advice

I’m currently supporting a family member who has recently been diagnosed with dementia, and it has been both emotionally and physically challenging. From managing daily routines to coping with memory loss and behavioral changes, it often feels overwhelming.
I wanted to reach out here to ask:

  • How do you balance caregiving with your own wellbeing?
  • Are there practical tips or routines that have helped you?
  • What resources or support groups have made a difference for you?
I believe sharing our experiences can make this journey a little easier for all of us. Any advice, encouragement, or stories would mean a lot.

I felt the same way when I first posted, but over time I’ve found balance by setting small routines and giving myself permission to take breaks. Joining a local carers’ support group and using respite care when needed really lifted the weight off my shoulders. It’s still challenging, but these steps have made the journey much more manageable.
