My 75 year old husband has had a couple of acting out dreams and also has heard music and asked me if anyone is in the house when he woke up ( just twice) - only dosirentated very briefly ,should I be worried? No tremors .Some one suggested hypnopompic hallucinations. Do you think i should be worried? He says nothing is wrong it's me being anxious. Any ideas welcome. Thanks

Sorry you're going through this, my mum had Lewy body dementia and started with nighttime hallucinations- hearing music from next door and animals in the house. A scan diagnosed her - could you get one?

My dad saw and called out to animals and birds in the house regularly. He would wake up from a nap and ask where everyone has gone and that the house was full a moment ago ( it wasn't). One morning I found him in the bathroom running his hands around the bath as "just now"it had been full of "beautiful blue water that looked so inviting "
He would be lost in his house.

My husband has Lewy body and has all sorts of hallucinations including having animals and birds in the house, people who were not there and talking to TV etc. We had a docs appointment and it went from there, neuro scans, hospital appointments but it was quite a while before we got a diagnosis.

Very early signs of DLB with FIL were REM sleep disorder, loss of sense of smell and urinary urgency - all three years before other symptoms. Then a couple of years of things not quite right - cognitive decline and loss of confidence around things like directions, managing money etc. Also physical symptoms like a postural lean and a more shuffling gait. Also sleeping more in the daytime, zoning out a bit. Not much of a tremor until recently in the mid stages (and even now it's not that pronounced). Hallucinations have also been limited - a few occasions of thinking there are other people in the house, but it hasn't been a big feature for him.

DMIL it was loss of taste. A scan diagnosed Vascular Dementia. If you are going to go for an assessment I'd recommend trying to get Financial and Health POAs in place first. It will make everything so much easier.
