Worried about a friend at a hobby club

Not sure if I'm overthrowing this but I go to a club once a week, and I'm starting to worry about a friend there.

I have known them for years. They are a very gentle and lovely soul. Last week they was asking me a question about the hobby that they should know snd I thought it was a bit strange but I really made a mental note as it seemed so out of character.

This week again they seemed very confused about something they should know. They don't like swearing and said dam and they slapped my arm. That's not swearing to me, again it just seemed off for them to behave like that.

I know it's just two weeks but when do you need to worry? I'm hoping there's some other reason but it's like there's been a personality change

It does sound like there might be something slightly wrong. Is there anyone else at the hobby group or a leader that you'd be able to speak about it to? If not then maybe just keep and eye out for if they get worse and if they do it's most likely others will notice as well. Hope all is well though OP.

Presumably there is a group leader or a committee with a chair. I'd try and speak to someone in authority and let them know your concerns.

Yes there is class teacher. I was thinking I would see what they are like in the next two weeks then approach the teacher. Worried I'm overthrowing it, but it's things they have known for years. Thanks

That is worrying. Do you know where they live? Are they in their own?
