Activities/gifts to send into a care home?

My Grandma went into a care home for her dementia a few weeks ago (somewhat prematurely in my opinion but that’s another thread). She’s used to being out and about every day and is really bored. She says they all just sit around watching TV and chatting all day which doesn’t really interest her.

Does anyone have any ideas of things I can send in for her? Obviously we’ll take her out as often as possible but it’s a long drive so can’t be as much as I’d like. She’s not good with technology so an iPad wouldn’t work but likes reading magazines, watching DVDs, doing knitting etc.

I sent my mum a photo album with photos of her life and grandchildren etc

But she had dementia....

Puzzles? Or a lovely knitting pattern wool etc so she can make you things to treasure?

Sorry missed that she had dementia!

A memory box is a good idea too....

My mum loved music and reading so I bought a cheap CD player with audio books and music cds

a subscription to a magazine or perhaps send her by post a selection of different magazines on subjects she might be interested in -including quiz/crosswords & knitting & travel?

My gran used to crochet blankets when she was in the care home with Alzheimer's. Didn't need to follow a pattern so nice and straightforward for her to pick up and put down. Does she crochet or just knit? Either way, maybe just some wool and hooks/needles for a wee blanket?
