How long before due date do I need to be on alert to go to the hospital at any time

I want to organise a get together with some lads, and my wife is currently just over 2 months from due date. I'll be away from her (not too far) and drinking, so I don't want to do it at a time anything is likely to happen. What's a sensible period to leave before the due date where I need to make sure I'm able to get up and go at any second?

A baby is term at 37 weeks. So, I'd say 36 weeks onwards.

You could ask her what she's comfortable with?

Agree, 36 weeks I was packed and ready to go whenever baby was.

Just want to add, well done for thinking like this. I know some men don't give it a second thought, so well done for being prepared.

It’s advised in most baby books etc to have your hospital bag packed ready to go from 36 weeks, so I’d say around then

From about 35weeks my husband would only go out if my mum was able to come to mine and be with me or if I could go to hers - I always said I would be fine but he just felt more comfortable this way.

It’s really lovely that you are considering this, being the partner of a pregnant woman isn’t always easy but I’m sure your support is very much appreciated.

I would also add that depending on how close you are to due date it could be worth considering the amount you have to drink, fine to be over driving limit as you could get a lift/taxi if required but maybe don’t have so much that you would be incoherent in case anything happens.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll be aiming for before 35 weeks to go to be on the safe side.
