I would be very interested to know what you guys find attractive in a woman? My bloke likes curvy women (good job I am) but I appreciate some of you like the size 0 (can't understand)

So what is your IDEAL size?

Blimey, are there not enough websites judging us all on the basis of how we look without MN being one of them?

kitsandbits · 26/10/2007 11:10

Mischa Barton is too thin, dangerously thin i think

I like curvy women, 12/14

like from suicide girls

kitsandbits · 26/10/2007 11:11

sorry - quinne

Luckily DP does too as im a bit too curvy at the mo! lol

screaminghousewife · 26/10/2007 11:12

I don't think she is that thin tbh, she is very tall and she has hips (although she dresses to disguise them), if you put her next to Posh, she looks suprisingly healthy.

CarGirl · 26/10/2007 11:14

You can only judge dress size into relation to height as well?????? Perhaps better to compare...

complete stick inect looks skeletal
waif
dainty
slim
slim but curvy
curvy
well covered
marilyn monroe body

and so on.......I reckon very few men would really like anything slimmer than "a curvy" and most would probably like a marily monroe onwards!!!

I also wonder if there is a big difference between men in their early twenties and men in their late 40's - how much of the media icon of what is an attractive women when they were in their teens has influenced what they think is attractive now IYSWIM

goingfriggincrazy · 26/10/2007 11:28

I class myself as petite (size 8) also get fed up with rants and moans about thin women-some of us are just naturally built that way-I certainly don't strive to be size 0 and I'm sure theres plenty of other slimmer women that are the same, wonder how larger ladies would feel if men posted that they didnt fancy larger built women?.

All that counts is if you are happy in your body and your partner fancies you the way you are

OrmIrian · 26/10/2007 11:31

I don't think it was a rant about thin women crazy. Just a question to the men here. You often here the old cliche that men 'like a bit of meat on the bones' etc and DH certainly says he does (but then he would wouldn't he ) but looking at most 'desirable' women in the public eye, it's hard to beleive sometimes.

screaminghousewife · 26/10/2007 11:34

Yes but, that ideal is mostly promoted by media women.

NomDeBroomstick · 26/10/2007 11:35

Maybe not so much the what was fashionable body shape when they were in the wilderness years of raging hormones, but more that possibly men in their 30's onwards don't care as much about what the media portray as the body beautiful. They are more confident in their own opinions and less bothered about what society as a whole may think of their chosen partner

NomDeBroomstick · 26/10/2007 11:37

Whereas maybe less emotionally mature (so not all younger men) care more about what their mates/peers/the general public/Nuts magazine think of their partner than their older, more mature counterparts.

Also, IME, older men are less shallow than younger men.

LongMeg · 26/10/2007 11:38

What a shame that we have to reduce an "ideal woman" down to a set of measurements.

I'd like to think that most men have the brains to factor in personality, sense of humour and general niceness into the equation, too.

goingfriggincrazy · 26/10/2007 11:39

Not saying this post was ranting about thin women -just most people think if you are slender/slim/thin whatever you wanna call it,its something you've strived for-some of us are just naturally that way and not some posh wannabe's.I personally fancy fat men-tis all personal preference I guess

agreed mild!

EricL · 26/10/2007 12:10

I agree that Mischa barton looks too thin for me. Some guys like that though - especially the youngsters as someone has already stated.

Same for women though. Some like slim men and others like these built-up brutes or even more rotund ones. I can't understand why women find these weedy looking types like Docherty attractive - but they do.

Horses for courses i guess.

I was fairly slim when i met the wife - but still quite toned. She likes it now i am going down the gym more and am bigger all-round now. I know she wouldn't like it if i was a pumped body-builder type though.

ShedBuddy · 30/10/2007 13:54

Don't mind the size as longs as "fit" and happy. DW is a 16ish and looks fabulous... at times.

My bloke likes women curvy so I guess anything from a 12-16 as long as she looks good.

Kevlarhead · 30/10/2007 20:21

Intelligent. Interesting. Able to put up with coversational tangents, constant non-sequiters, and me (in ascending order of importance). Size/shape is secondary.

Kevlarhead · 30/10/2007 20:31

BTW, saw the pic of Mischa Barton. Reminded me of the following quote from here

"Besides, extreme skinniness is horrendous. Ever had sex with an incredibly skinny person? It's like being attacked by a deckchair. They could have your eye out with one of those elbows. That's not sexy. That's terrifying."

HappyDaddy · 06/11/2007 13:01

I don't do skinny at all. Got to have some bum and hips. Size depends on height too, I don't go by dress size. I go by how big my eyes light up.

She is perfect...i.a.cnn.net/si/features/2007_swimsuit/images/photos/07_beyonce_10.jpg

LittleGoldfish · 06/11/2007 14:39

HappyDaddy - Just showed DH your choice and he agrees 100%. I wish I had a bod like that .

Good to see that most of you men like your women curvy - looks like stick insects are unfashionable .

lou33 · 06/11/2007 14:55

Women are definitely more hung up on weight and size than men are, i also agree that men like curves more than the stick thin shape

I think monica bellucci has a great shape
