I wish I liked olives.

You see people in the park gaily downing olives on picnics, or knocking back handfuls as passengers on classy looking white boats on the river, and they look to be having a ball. I love Italian and Spanish food, so much of which is strewn with olives tossed over by the chef. You can get nice looking drinks with olives bathing in them, but I just don't like them. I want to like them. I want to enjoy the olive eating lifestyle that goes with them, but they just taste pooey to me.
Same with coffee. All kinds of exciting blends and erotic names for cup sizes, but to me it's all just stinky bitterness.

What foods would you like to like?

Yes, I trained myself to like olives - they used to make me shudder I hated them that much. It took about 3 years and I love them now. Why? Because when I was on holiday and ordered a cold beer they always used to bring out olives too and I just wanted to like them Smile

I know what the OP means about olives. They are an acquired taste and even so, there are so many varieties and many that are much more palatable.

Speaking of olives, the olive oil industry is also a minefield with so much corruption and falsely presented products. My favourite olive oil products are here

Available at Waitrose and others, i always use their extra virgin oil with foods/as dressings /with pasta etc.. Its very good. Of course i dont use it for hot cooking as its too good for that. Sometimes i will have a spoonful for good health. It doesnt do the Greeks any harm !
