should my son play with dolls?

hi guys, the wife recently suggested buying our son a doll, and thinks until he can make his own decisions about what to play with, we shouldn't consider gender when buying them, any thoughts on this?

Can you get the car that goes with the Doll? I think Barbie's "Ken" has a couple of Porsche's / Ferrari's which might even things out a bit.

Then if the doll mysteriously 'disappears', he'll still have the car to play with

Kids are just using their imaginations, don't worry about it...
