What have I done?!

Am 52 v v v overweight and unfit. Have signed up for a 40 mile cycle on may bank holiday. I need a bike and have no idea what to get...any advice

You'll be fine, it'll hurt but you will get round. If there are lots of other people there you'll be swept along at least for some of it. If you can get halfway, you'll get through the rest.

If it gets too much, stop and have a breather and a quick nibble. Then get back on the bike and keep going. Have something nice waiting for you at the finish or your favourite food in the fridge for when you get home. Your legs will get you home... I promise.

You'll be very proud of yourself when you finish no matter how you finish.

Taken tomorrow off to do a longer one

I did it 2 punctures, gear and brake failure and several miles more than necessary as DH &I got lost. Tired but not too sore. Def doing more cycling. Thanks for the encouragement and tips. Best of all raised £500 for chairty
