Role of AMDRAM chairperson

Can anyone who is/has taken on the role of a chairperson for an AMDRAM society/group, please give me a general (truthful) idea of what's involved. From what I've gathered, it's not that much if the rest of the committee are good at helping.
I was a preschool chair for a school year and got on fine - there was a lot involved though and it was quite stressful. I thought doing the chair for an AMDRAM group wouldn't be anything like that?

How did it go?

Sorry, just saw it's tonight not yesterday .

Having been on an AMDRAM Comittee in my previous life I would, I'm afraid, avoid it like the plague.

imho, too many chiefs and not enough (Native American) indians.

Hi, i was publicity sec for our soc, and like luckyblackcat, would also prob avoid, but that was partly because our committee was full of old ladies with very entrenched views about how things should be done.

Good luck to you though. if you have a good society it might actually be fun!

Oh dear - read the replies after the AGM!!!
Oh well - too late now. I made sure that the Chairman did actually did want to step down as I would have felt even worse than I do now if they'd all stepped down and I was voted in even though he still wanted to carry on for another term.
Was all a bit weird really. They made me take over the rest of the meeting too (something I hadn't done when I was chair of our preschool - probably as if I didn't do it, then it would have shut down!) and that felt really odd; sitting in front of everyone.
The other odd thing is that the previous chairperson is going to stay on the committee. I will constantly feel as though I'm being judged. Too late now- sure I'll be fine. Joining at a strenuous time too - money worries and venue probs. My DH will say "I told you never to volunteer for anything ever again!"

You never know, it all might turn out brilliantly. I am sure you will do a great job!
