Anyone know where we can spot some Andy Goldsworthy art?

We are going to drive from Paisley in Scotland to Wales, via Hadrian's Wall.

Surely, in that part of the world, we should be able to see some of his work in situ? Or does it all get dismantled after he's photographed it?

You know the Yorkshire Sculpture Park presumably? Or are you wanting one of those serendipitous "ooh that's an unusual looking sheepfold - BUT NO - it's a piece of famous contemporary art! Just lurking in this unlikely random valley" experiences?

WilfSell · 06/08/2008 22:42

One of the Scouse beaches - either Crosby or Formby, can never remember which - has all the self obsessed vain amazing figures...? You could divert from the M6...?

WilfSell · 06/08/2008 22:42

Anthony Gormley I thought you said... hahahahahahahahaha

WilfSell · 06/08/2008 22:43

I do actually know who Andy Goldsworthy is too.

Dunno the actual answer to your question though.

Bink · 06/08/2008 22:43

I'm fairly sure there's some in dumfries and galloway. I'll google.

There are some in Edinburgh, though that's a bit out of your way (but worth a visit). On the roof of the new Museum of Scotland, and in the Botanic gardens.

I've been to this one but hadn't realised it was actually andy goldsworthy. I looked at it and thought, hmm this is quite andy goldsworthy. duh.
IIRC we went on a hill walk from there, and had a picnic by a river if you're up for making a day of it.

PhDlifeNeedsaNewLife · 07/08/2008 20:22

aren't they lovely!

would def do the walk bit, just not sure how I'd get my 15m-old into 4WD.

we went to yorkshire sculpture park this time last year, it was awesome lovely. god I love his work!

i made my own andy goldsworthy inspired sculpture at coniston about 5 years ago.
pretty sure it's not there anymore, and in truth it was just a pile of stones so don't bother looking for it

dh always says we should do some "andy goldsworthying" at various stony beaches we visit.
