Am I the only one who can't stand the nasal, raspy tones of female musicals singers?

I've just been listening to Elaine Page's Radio 2 show which is FILLED with women singing in musicals. Their piercingly nasal voices are giving me a headache! Why do they all have to sound like a child singing through a kazoo?
