Why can Mumsnet have a section for keepers of chickens and not a music one?

It seems just ever so slightly ridiculous to me.

well I was told that the music topic was going to be discussed at a meeting lats thursday.
wonder when we will hear yes or no

Bluestocking · 11/05/2008 17:54

I think it's because the MN heavy hitters are all chicken-crazy but tone deaf.

WanderingTrolley · 11/05/2008 17:57

lol bluestocking

I think they are just fearing high brow spats and flounces.

There will be snobbery and division in a class war involving Classicalists and Death Metallers.

Bluestocking · 11/05/2008 18:01

Now that I like the sound of, WT, who cares about incys and chipping when we could have emos and conservatoire kids slugging it out for supremacy?

DarthVader · 11/05/2008 18:07

Because chickens are great

2shoes · 11/05/2008 22:50

they are lovely with roas potatoes.
but muscic is much better

maidamess · 11/05/2008 22:51

Nobody even posts in chickens anymore do they? I don't see it on the board anymore after the inital chicken fever. Chicken pox, if you will.

Heathcliffscathy · 11/05/2008 22:52

we just keep trying don't we.

we just try.

but chicken keepers will get it and we won't. and that's that.

maidamess · 11/05/2008 22:55

Whats stopping the muso's doing a > type thing in Chat, rather than having its own topic? That vomit phobic thread has got nearly 900 posts for goodness sake. Music could beat that!

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 23:00

maybe we should ask for an anarchy topic instead

Saturn74 · 11/05/2008 23:03

You could all squat in the thrilling new 'Extra-curricular activities' topic!

LyraSilvertongue · 11/05/2008 23:04

Will MN Towers see this thread, do you think? I want them to know we haven't given up.

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 23:05

is there an extra curricular activities topic

you are joking non?

LyraSilvertongue · 11/05/2008 23:06

So, they're prepared to give us an extra-curricular activities topic, which no-one asked for, but not the music topic that we've been campaigning for for months.
This makes sense how?

It's nestled proudly in the Education section, Zippi.
Although it only has 1 thread in it so far.
Surprisingly.

Tortington · 11/05/2008 23:07

chicken keeping is so cool

and there is the culture topic

we dont want any of your popular music here

Saturn74 · 11/05/2008 23:08
Heathcliffscathy · 11/05/2008 23:08

has anyone been informed of why there is a music topic ban?

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 23:09

its got another fucking thread now tho

LyraSilvertongue · 11/05/2008 23:09

No. The last they said on it was that it wouldn't be happening. No reason given.
[perplexed]

zippitippitoes · 11/05/2008 23:10

they wont have mental health either as it doesnt fit in

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 11/05/2008 23:20

There are over 100 threads in the chicken section, it's rawther popular and used daily.

But a music section would be good too. There is 'Culture Vultures' but that seems a bit arty if you want to discuss knicker-throwing at the Foos concert.
