I love the name

suzywong · 26/04/2008 17:20

oh, is this the appropriate place to mention I was backstage at the Foo Fighters' show on Monday and Dave Grohl is a frickin rock GOD?

if not just say so and I'll go

My DH has been listening to a lot of BB recently

ShirrrrrrrrrrrrrrLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

beaniesteve · 26/04/2008 17:21

I listened to the first Get Cape wear cape fly album on a horrible megabus journey to London. I wanted to kill myself by the end of it. The guy (It's a guy not a band) writes the most awful Pseudo Protest songs I have ever heard. Is the second album any better

I wasn't that in to the Courteeners album but really liked the song they did on Jonathan Ross last night.

zippitippitoes · 26/04/2008 17:23

band/guy same difference lol

its the second album that i have ripped

the jury is out

but it is growing on me

OP posts:
suzywong · 26/04/2008 17:27

I love Foo Fighters
they fricking ROCK

that's it really

oh and Dave Grohl and my dh want to do a web project together and when I was backstage I reined myself in and didn't go and stroke him or gurn at him because I am too respectful. And cool

thank you
carry on, as you were

VictorianSqualor · 26/04/2008 17:28

Ooooh suzy
I liked the first couple of songs get cape wear cape fly did, but then got mightily fed up with his crooning.
He's too 'samey' for me.

zippitippitoes · 26/04/2008 17:32

is it adele oir someone on there too

whoever it is i dont like her as she does that talking instead of sining stuff which i find tedious..is it adele...i am a bit crap at remembering people i hate

i agree about the samey bit i think

OP posts:
beaniesteve · 26/04/2008 17:38

Adele is good imo, it's Kate Nash who does the talky stuff and she irritates me to death

MargaretMountford · 26/04/2008 17:39

no, don't like Adele - too Winehousey for me

MargaretMountford · 26/04/2008 17:39

prefer Gabriella Cilmi

willow · 26/04/2008 17:40

Is this the correct place to say that my mate produced the Foo's album (well, a couple actually)?

zippitippitoes · 26/04/2008 17:42

oh yep kate nash thats the one she is on that second cape album im sure

is adele the chasing payments one if so i dont like her either i dont have much space for women at the mo

tho i do like drugstore

and er duffy

OP posts:
willow · 26/04/2008 17:46

Elbow album is rather lovely, btw. Possibly the most romantic lyricist around?

VictorianSqualor · 26/04/2008 19:26

adele is chasing pavements, yes.
DD keeps talking like Kate Nash and annoying me terribly, I'm not really liking any 'new music' at the moment tbh having to stick to my tried and tested library instead.

zippitippitoes · 26/04/2008 19:30

there is loads of music i like at the mo

too much it is hard to keep up

OP posts:
zippitippitoes · 26/04/2008 19:32

the seldom seen kid is a good title

OP posts:
suzywong · 27/04/2008 03:52

oooo willow is that Adam Kasper or Nick R?

Either way please give him a manly slap on the back from me for making such fine fine sounds.

my mate produced The Colour and The Shape and EPSG.

Small world innit?

LazyLinePainterJane · 27/04/2008 07:25

I saw Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly supporting the Flaming Lips about a year ago and he was AWFUL. Dull, over the top "protest" songs that couldn't be more obvious if they ran over and slapped you in the face.

NotQuiteCockney · 27/04/2008 08:05

Interesting to hear what they're like - they're playing at a free festival near me today (along with some other people who I know I like).

I suspect I share some musical taste with you, LLPJ, based on your name

LazyLinePainterJane · 27/04/2008 12:16

Yay!

LazyLinePainterJane · 27/04/2008 12:18

Well....I hope you don't like him, NQC otherwise there'll be trouble. . I am not a fan of music being so twee and obvious, which may be at odds with my name, but IM(Very Important)O , B&S get away with such things (or at least they used to) due to sheer wonderfull-ness. It doesn't work with anyone else.

zippitippitoes · 27/04/2008 12:21

lol i may also share some likes lazy line painter...

tho i could with almost anyone as i have quite varied tastes

OP posts:
willow · 27/04/2008 13:57

Suzy - neither. Er, my mate produced The Color and Echoes - so probably is a small world.

NotQuiteCockney · 27/04/2008 14:05

They are quite twee and obvious, but yes, very lovely. I like Billy Bragg ok, but this guy doesn't sound that tempting. I might end up hearing him anyway.
