..for Sports Relief, no doubt people will have opinions about these..I briefly glimpsed the Vettriano and it looked ok to me- light and airy - vaguely Hockney-ish in that it was in front of a window, like Mr and Mrs Clarke...

oooh that will be interesting, do you ahve a link?

SheherazadetheGoat · 28/02/2008 09:42

damian hirst will probably just kill and pickle beckham and glue some diamonds on him and be critically acclaimed. vettriano will do his usual painting by numbers and get all chippy when this is pointed out to him.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 09:43

it's on the Daily Mail webpage, which I've been vowing not to look at on account of it's vileness, but will go and find for you !

oh lord how i hate Vettriano.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 10:06

out of interest, why ? I know it's easy to knock him and I don't really like pictures of singing waiters etc - I think it's the subject matter rather than the execution, which is perfectly ok, if perhaps a little bland

I find Vettriano bland. It really is "biscuit tin" art. There is no depth which is fine if you don't want any, but i prefer something to think about or unsettle me! The fact that he changed his name to Vettriano speaks volumes!

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 10:10

what was it before ?

ffs vetrianno and his sodding high heels. compare that portrait to any interior portrait by the scottish colourists and you will see how lacking in depth it is.

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 10:51

am certainly not a fan, just curious as to why he is so popular - I suppose I can answer that myself in that he's bland, inoffensive and paints things people like..

MaryAnnSingleton · 28/02/2008 17:52
