hifi · 01/02/2008 22:26

marina, did they have a baby? tracy is ageless, she still looks the same as 20+ years ago.

marina · 01/02/2008 23:21

I think they have two children hifi but quite young ones. I am guessing Ben's awful illness might have been a factor in having the babies later
I remember her from Marine Girls days too
She is wonderful

hifi · 01/02/2008 23:26

I don't think they made a big deal out of it tbh hifi, you just read snippets about it in the press occasionally
He was pretty sick for a time, some sort of systemic collapse and gastic nastiness, can't remember what it was called
Main thing is I think he is fine now

MAMAZON · 01/02/2008 23:36

and i love love love this song, so does ds!

Heathcliffscathy · 01/02/2008 23:46

am loving the lyrics too:
I'm feeling rough, I'm feeling raw, I'm in the prime of my life.
Let's make some music, make some money, find some models for wives.
I'll move to Paris, shoot some heroin, and fuck with the stars.
You man the island and the cocaine and the elegant cars.

This is our decision, to live fast and die young.
We've got the vision, now let's have some fun.
Yeah, it's overwhelming, but what else can we do.
Get jobs in offices, and wake up for the morning commute.

Forget about our mothers and our friends
We're fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend

I'll miss the playgrounds and the animals and digging up worms
I'll miss the comfort of my mother and the weight of the world
I'll miss my sister, miss my father, miss my dog and my home
Yeah, I'll miss the boredem and the freedom and the time spent alone.

There's really nothing, nothing we can do
Love must be forgotten, life can always start up anew.
The models will have children, we'll get a divorce
We'll find some more models, everyting must run it's course.

We'll choke on our vomit and that will be the end
We were fated to pretend
To pretend
We're fated to pretend
To pretend

Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah
Yeah, yeah, yeah

I think Ben Watt had most of his intestines removed IIRC. Unfortunately it seemed to turn him on to house music ; I prefer their early and solo stuff.

This is floating my boat right now. Bit noisy for this time of night.

I think I heard someone on R2 comparing 'Just for Tonight' to 'Enola Gay'. It's good, just, music for someone a bit younger than me.

(Changing my name to PastitDad tomorrow...)
