I'm just saying.

I mean, "accrochez-toi à ton rêve"??

accrochez-toi??

He he!

Reminds of that terrible 80s europop song "We're living life in the dolce vita" specifically the line "Nobody else than you"

UnquietDad · 17/01/2008 09:57

Well, the original line is "hold on tight to your dream", so I imagine they found the closest thing they could. Even if the verb were right I know the ending is wrong (summerfruit - yes, that's my point!)

By the way I do accents, umlauts, tildes etc. by storing them all in a Notepad file and cutting-and-pasting...

"Accroche-toi" is a perfectly decent translation for "hold on tight", and in a song would be pronounced "accroch-e-toi". I haven't heard this so cannot judge, however.

purplemonkeydishwasher · 17/01/2008 10:17

i thought i was mis-hearing the song. So it WAS supposed to be french.
(listening to R2 are you UQD?)

Cod, what is this about the Mole? When did I post about it FGS?? (I did enjoy it but I don't recall mentioning it here.) I'll start a thread...

They definitely sing "accrochEZ-toi."

I think it sounds like "accrochez-toi" too.

Have a listen Anna

Damn, this is going to go round in my head all day now - even the title got me humming it.

Anna8888 · 17/01/2008 10:57

Agree that it sounds like "ez"... but that's not the only pronunciation I'd take issue with . Translation OK though.

UnquietDad · 17/01/2008 11:07

Their "tu" sounds like "too" as well.

Thanks for the trip down memmory lane. This song always takes me right back to some bloody good days.

DumbledoresGirl · 27/04/2008 11:26

I mustn't drive to it though otherwise I will come up against Cod in her official capacity!

onebatmother · 27/04/2008 15:32

How odd. I was thinking about that awful 'je suis un pop-star' about 20 seconds ago...

j'habitais la, dans the South of France..

Tinker · 27/04/2008 15:35

How can you all miss out Fade to Grey?

moondog · 27/04/2008 15:36

I love love love ELO.
My top gulty pleasure.

DumbledoresGirl · 27/04/2008 15:37

Fade to Grey - excellent.

I know I am middle aged, but songs these days really really aren't as good as the old ones, are they?
