Our neighbours went and were rather disappointed. They hoped to see heaps of gold and it was rooms of bits and bobs (they said).

serin · 16/01/2008 22:46

Are they okay?

The neighbours?

Dh is taking ds in the summer, he booked the tickets last year and the earliest ones he could get were for May this year.

MyEye · 18/01/2008 13:23

Not very good imo. There was a thread somewhere...
Also eyewateringly pricey.
Maybe 8yos would enjoy it if they were interested in ancient Egypt, but there were some younger children there who looked massively fedup.

Pollyanna · 18/01/2008 13:23

yes, ds (9) did find it disappointing I think.

DarthVader · 01/02/2008 13:43

oooh I was hoping to see lots of gold too! Is it worth seeing if you are 8 and have been to Egypt and seen tombs there already (although haven't been to Cairo)?

justme27 · 13/02/2008 16:19

I haven't been myself but my brother went and was disappointed too :-s

the objects on display were all stunning, crap music and high cost.

and if you're expecting THE sarcophagus, it aint leavin egypt.

they build up to the final room, which was a bit of a disappointment for me. i'm glad i went though.

Out of interest how much does the exhibition cost?

Went to Paris recently and saw a fantastic egyptian exhibition at the Louvre, there was so much to see - I'm talking thousands of egyptian artefacts, room upon rooms of the stuff and I believe it's a permanent exhibition. My ds1 who is 8 was in utter heaven.
