VIP tickets for a show of my choice, dinner and overnight at a 5 star hotel. Yay!!!

I would love to see Dirty Dancing, but hear that tickets are like rocking horse shit. I need to comile a list of my top 3. I am thinking Joseph will be one, any reccomendations for your 'must see' much appreciated.

Thanks

Def Billy Elliot

Have seen Dirty Dancing too, but imho Billy Elliot was much better.
Loads of great big dance numbers, sad and funny - fantastic!
Probably the best show I have seen.

You will have a great time

Les Miserables - loved it

Bink · 08/01/2008 16:18

Do you have a list of options to choose from? - ie can you do a National Theatre thing, or is it eg the West End consortium only?

Billy Elliot is fun - but then I haven't massive experience of that sort of thing, so not sure how reliable my rating is.

However - of the current West End song-in-your-heart kind of experiences, I think I would choose Hairspray.
Or maybe Spamalot.

Not that I've seen either.

Randomly: if you were taking an 8 & 7 yo to their first Gilbert & Sullivan, would you do (i) Iolanthe; (ii) Mikado; or (iii) Pirates of Penzance?

Thank you - Pirates (& policemen) it is. With Jo Brand being the Sergeant. Lovely - this is now settling into a my-birthday tradition - last year we saw Little Shop of Horrors.

The Mikado has the costumes & sets from Mike Leigh's marvellous Topsy Turvy, so that should be wonderful too (if anyone is thinking of it .. Northerner??)

Choice number

  1. Hairspray, Fantastic and so much fun.
  2. Sound of Music, beautiful.
  3. Wicked, spectacular set and great songs.
  4. Avenue Q, again a brilliant feel good show.
