i am in a state of flux and it is 23 days until the damn film opens. i have the patti lupone cd on almost constant rotation and tease myself with trailers on youtube every night when the children are abed.

it pens on my 40th birthday, thank you in advance, mr tim burton for this present! please do not let me be disappointed!

from the youtubiness, even sacha baron cohen looks fabulous.

Same here. Some friends in the US have seen it and raved about it, though another friend is too offended by the non-operatic standard of the singing to go.

I can't WAIT though.

I think I'll go and see it at the weekend

PersephoneSnowballSnape · 01/01/2008 21:43

depp seems to equip himself well. HBC seems a little sugary compared to patti lupone for the role. still though. theres a clip of alan rickman (salivate) and depp singing 'pretty women' that gets me all-a-flutter..www.youtube.com/watch?v=RIDIvSrjc3Y

and sacha baron cohen is fab www.youtube.com/watch?v=dHaLsilVU7k (apologies if those don't quite work....)

Persephone, have you seen the one where Rickman does this gorgeous hand-drifty thing along a bookcase then accuses Anthony of 'gandering' his ward? That's my fave so far (fellow Rickman-fancier here).

PersephoneSnowballSnape · 01/01/2008 21:47

if the youtube links don't work (boo!) there are clips on the official site www.sweeneytoddmovie.com/

'such practices, the geishas of china, the concubines of japan! the harlots of japan... everything you have ever dreeeeamed of doing witha woman! you gandered at mt ward! sir! you gandered!!'

go snape! go snape!

Lol, then he does that swooping down to the chair move exactly the same as he does to Harry in 'Prisoner of Azkaban' and I expect him to say 'Loss of limb will not excuse you'. Hmmm, possibly watched these DVDs a few too many times now....

PersephoneSnowballSnape · 01/01/2008 21:58

thats no excuse.

( i blush on your behalf, having been there....)

loved it. very happy (except for 'mea culpa' being left out and therefore no self flagellation from mr rickman, but hey) HBC a little weak of voice IMO.
