Drool (from a fan perspective!)
Love Bawden and especially Ravilious' work. What a tragic loss his death was

ah Marina - I knew you'd like these too ! Like the look of the Edward Ardizzone. My mum was at art school in the 50s and you can see a definite influence of Edward (sorry misnamed him in first post) Bawden...

We have a lovely Collected Nonsense of Edward Lear with a Bawden cover. Not a posh edition by any means but the colouring is delightful - washed strawberry and pale olive.
I have just been obliged to forego the chance to buy a limited Folio Soc reissue of the Gill Gospels. They sent a sample page and I keep fingering it and blubbing. £275!
I'll bookmark that site because MIL was in publishing in the 50s and will be interested, and book design is something dh, my sis and I all take an interest in.
Have you seen the Persephone Press reissues? They use fabric and wallpaper designs as the end-papers and are so handsome...

That's great. Love Edward Ardizzone - in fact this is on my amazon wish list

MaryAnnSingleton · 10/11/2007 11:55

Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day is their loveliest title IMO MaryAnn but many of the books are worth a look
