I'm going to see it in Glasgow on Wednesday. It's had great reviews. Has anyone seen it? What did you think?

i really REALLY want to see it and am hoping for a spare £20 and some returns for the thursday matinee.

I've heard alan cumming is slightly on the wrong side of the line of camp - but i don't want to mis the opportunity of seeing him on the Scottish stage for the first time in 16 years. I've read that Agvave is stunning though.

Here's hoping you get a return on Thursday. I've been lucky with matinee returns before, especially if it's just one ticket you're wanting. If you don't get one, I'll let you know what it's like.

i phoned today and they don't do returns! [wail! emoticon] luckily there are plenty of setas left for the matinee and I've managed to get some seats at the side in the circle for a fiver each. am looking forwards to this emmensley! do report back after you've been on wednesday I'm also delighted that the production has come to Glasgow before going to London for a run.

he is really not up to the role.

He looks good but is too puny and asexual

Great 'production' but he is all wrong

Alan Cumming was my babysitter

I went last night. Really enjoyed the fact that it ran right through without an interval. I don't like the interruption of an interval. I'm a bit of a theatre facist, and I can't bear people getting up or eating or coughing (or even breathing too loudly, if I'm honest! ) I thought it was a great production, the women were fabulous. I know what you meet, Beetroot, about him being too asexual. I thought he played the role well, but looked wrong. He should have looked like Dougrey Scott! However, it was great to see him on stage again. It must be about 20 years since I last saw him perform, and that was with Forbes Masson as Victor and Barry, back in the days of Mayfest - probably when he was babysitting Nailpolish (who must be a real spring chicken!).

it was fabulous! a couple of niggly bits - the bacchae (whatever the singular is? bacchi? with teh cut out hole in her dress was a horrible singer. the larger ladies seemed to get the dregs of the wardrobe department.

I loved alan cumming. absolutely magnetic - i got irritated when anyone else was on stage with him because i just want to gaze. i didn't find him asexual at all - quite the opposite . bloke played a blinder. nice arse.

thought Agave was fab as well. She reminded me of germaine greer (!) crossed with Rula lenska, and my partner thought she was like laura Palmers mum in twin peaks. also really enjoyed the glasgow-hard-manishness of Pentheus. well worth my fiver!
