Urgent suggestions needed for my Dad's 70th birthday

Okay so I'm a complete philistine, and I need suggestions for my Dad's birthday. My siblings and I would like to get him an "experience", and I know he likes, for example, Daniel Barenboim, John Williams and other reasonably "mainstream" classical music.

I'm totally stabbing in the dark here, and have seen that Barenboim has numerous upcoming events in Berlin, Salzburg, and Paris. John Willams has an event coming up in Bristol. There's an opera called "The Greek Passion" (he really loves Greece) in Nottingham and Salford Quays....

Er.... any other ideas? Budget is about £400-£500, so could possibly include travel and a hotel. And ideas are not restricted to classical music.

Halp!

For a music lover Salzburg is a great destination. Are you accompanying him? If you’re less of a music lover where would you like to go?

Thanks Etino. I wouldn't be going with him. We'd get tickets for him and his partner.

I'm seeing Barenboim in Paris in early November. I'm not going for that, but I'm going to be in Paris and wanted to see some music and though it would be good. The Paris Philharmonic venue looks stunning. We got really good tickets for 85 Euros, so I'm sure you could do Eurostar + train + ticket for your budget.

Ooh I’d go to see the 12 cellos of the Berlin Phil in Berlin. They are astoundingly good.
