I think "Why Women Cry" just shades it for me. Though "The Special Mother" is truly appalling as well...

Oh god I can't bring myself to read them all sorry

Think we should get the Haiku thread moved here!

coppertop · 12/09/2004 22:04

I could only face reading two before feeling overly-nauseated. My vote goes to "The Special Mother". Urrggh!

Davros · 12/09/2004 22:08

I haven't actually read them myself as cut and pasted.... I vaguely rememmber one about Benji being extremely nauseating, though its a tough contest

JanH · 12/09/2004 22:10

Davros, if you have them all in the same place somewhere could you give us a link to them, please, so that we can give all of them our fullest appreciation?

coddychops · 12/09/2004 22:11

no the naffest one is the cancer one

coddychops · 12/09/2004 22:13

thi ss is the nffest line
"I would have shared more of the responsibility carried by my husband."

coppertop · 12/09/2004 22:13

I do of course understand why these poems would make parents feel so much better...........

I haven't stopped laughing for the past 10 minutes. Even the titles have me PMSL!

moomina · 12/09/2004 22:16

"I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart."

Pffft! Bleaugh.

why women cry just has to be the one. stiff competition. oh dear, you have visions of well meaning friends sending davros these to reassure her...

I can just picture Davros handing them out to parents and telling them (through gritted teeth) how comforting these poems can be.

ScummyMummy · 12/09/2004 22:44

Benji is utterly totally and absolutely dreadful, I must agree.

coppertop · 12/09/2004 22:46

I thought "Benji" was awful but it truly cannot compare to "I am the little engine". Ewwwww!

benji's funny. The special mother is absolutely revolting.

Jimjams · 12/09/2004 23:38

I'm off to look in the mirror- ROFL

Chandra · 13/09/2004 00:02

oh dear, just have had a look at some of them, and can only say that I get tons of these poems by e-mail, I can't remember how many persons I have blocked after the third one, but Davros you are missing the religious ones, they are by far the WORSE!!! and as an extra bonus, they normally include a postscript saying that if you don't forward them God is going to punish you and your family because you are ashamed of him!!!) Discusting...

Davros · 13/09/2004 10:09

One of my friends who likes these things describes herself as "spiritual"! Blimmin thick if you ask me she's also one of the most tactless and insensitive people I know! I can't link to them, although God will punish me for not trying harder. We should write some with "typical Brit humour" (e.g. lots of piss taking and swearing) then I'll post them back to the US EGroup where I got most of them.
