I got to grade one at about 11yrs old and now at 33 I am starting lessons again for a bit of fun.

Do you think I am going to make a twat of myself?

no. SOunds like fun. Enjoy it. SO many people mean to do it and never get round to it.

enjoy!

I started as a complete beginner a few years ago and did grade 1 - gave up when ds was born but would like to get into it again.
My teacher taught several adult beginners.

I used to teach adults and children - one thing I found though was that the adults didn't practice as well as the children - they always wanted to rush and do tricky bits and never wanted to practice in the right way! Used to drive me bonkers, so if you get a teacher, make sure you practice like they tell you to!!

No! Well I hope not, I am planning on starting again, once I find a cheap piano! Good luck!

Ooo ... would love to do that. I failed my grade 8 piano when I was 18 and would love to work at retaking it, but am nervous as I doubt I have the self-discipline to do it these days.

Would also love to take flute lessons, and even have acquired a flute, but haven't quite taken the plunge yet - might just try one of those teach yourself books for a little while until I get some confidence.

Go for it, you'll enjoy it much more as an adult! I did up to grade 7 as a teenager and took it up again aged 40. Did my grade 8, and got a distinction. I was well chuffed as it's my only 'proper' achievement since having children!!!!

Oooh this is spuring me on to start again. I got a digital piano when DS was about a year old, but the arrival of DD has slowed me down a bit.
