Because now I have YEARS of episodes to watch. It will severely affect my MN activity. And I will be watching them all out of order as we started with season 3

swizzler -- stop now and sart from the first episode of season 1. it will be worth it.

MrsWednesday · 30/04/2007 20:13

Oh yes, me and DH started watching the first series at Christmas when a friend lent me the box set, and now only have 3 more discs of series 7 to go.

Agree that it does go downhill a little bit but it's still utterly fabulous and has been the cause of many a late night in this house ("just one more episode..."}

I've been getting them through the Amazon DVD rental scheme thing.

Ellbell · 30/04/2007 20:13

You've only just noticed?

We've been on about this for ... oh... years!

Whatever you want to know about the West Wing, you want to ask Tribpot and Lilibet!

There are 7 series. Aaron Sorkin stopped writing after the end of series 4, and there was a definite drop in quality in series 5, parts of which were worryingly uninspiring. But series 6 picked itself up quite satisfactorily imho,and series 7 got good again. So worth sticking with it.

NKF · 30/04/2007 20:18

I watched it while I had a new baby. Hours of sitting on the sofa watching West Wing and breastfeeding. Happiest days of my life.

Swizzler · 30/04/2007 20:20

Was being a little slow, OK?

Goos point about Amazon rentals - savdes waiting for friend in dark alley and shaking him upside down for series 1 and 2.

Was at work today and felt urge to stride down corridor followed by flunky with notebook - sadly no flunky available

One thing though - with our Amazon DVD thing we only get one disc at a time, and four episodes is never enough (addicted? ME???? What do you mean?)

rowan1971 · 30/04/2007 21:15

Swizzler - occurred to me last night that I maybe ought to warn you that Shameless (and, to a lesser extent, Six Feet Under) are full of Language. They also have many Scenes of an Adult Nature.

Just in case the vanilla aspects of WW are part of its appeal for you. (Find the total lack of sex to be one of its strong points, myself.)

Swizzler · 01/05/2007 19:59

Think I can handle it

But I do like the fact that WW is about politics and not sx

Have bought series 1 and 2 on Amazon - will be emerging blinking into sunlight a couple of months hence

Oh MrsW - if only you had said. I could have fed your addiction faster than one disk at a time. That must be torture! (Although think of us who watched from the start and had but one ep a week).

Still waiting for Studio 60 ...

Ellbell · 01/05/2007 20:21

Wondered when you'd show up, tribpot! Hellooooo!

Glad you've got series 1 and 2, Swizzler. Have fun! (You will...!)

morningpaper · 01/05/2007 20:23

Don't worry it is ONLY the West Wing that has been any good over the last 8 years

It is FABULOUS

Even though I don't have a fecking clue what is happening half the time

But it's so BUZZY

Also The Peep Show is quite good but apart from that you are not missing anything

tribpot · 01/05/2007 20:29

I hear the siren call, what can I do In fairness, I have never yet bought S7 on DVD and have deleted it off the hard disk. I will buy it eventually but when I need my WW fix it's not of S7, or S5, let's be honest. S6 was okay.

Ellbell · 01/05/2007 22:06

I thought 7 was better than 6 tbh (though it's possible I was just recovering from the disappointment of 5!). I haven't bought 7 on DVD yet, but will do eventually. We are still doing our slow re-watch. Have just got back to the start of series 4.

marthamoo · 01/05/2007 22:09

Oh I love, love, love it. We've been watching the re-runs on Sunday nights on More 4 because we lost track of it first time round. We're not up to ones we haven't seen yet (nearly though...) but I can't wait. Even second time round it still beats anything else on TV.

I love Josh...and Leo...and I want to be CJ...and Toby...I want Toby's babies.

OldieMum · 01/05/2007 22:17

I'm envious of you, Swizzler, having the whole of the West Wing to watch. It was the reason we signed up with the dooomed 'On Digital', the only TV we watched for what seemed like several years. It makes almost all other TV shows look like they are aimed at children. It would be fun to watch now, with Gorilla Bush on the ropes. It was not so much fun watching it a few years ago when the Republicans were so triumphant.

I started a MN thread a while ago, relating that DH had explained to DD that the West Wing is Balamory for grown ups:

It's the world as it should be;
There's usually a clear moral;
And there's a White House.

Ellbell · 01/05/2007 22:20

...and Toby...I want Toby's babies.

Get in the queue (behind me), marthmoo.

Swizzler · 03/05/2007 13:03

Amazon delivered today - 44 episodes waiting for me at home

Don't want to be CJ - having to deal with journos bleurgh - but wouldn't mind being Josh. I need a flunky to do all my work for me

Ellbell · 03/05/2007 13:57

Enjoy, Swizzler! See you in a few weeks, then!

NKF · 03/05/2007 13:57

I want to be CJ and marry Josh and write as well as the Rob Lowe character. And you have 44 episodes waiting for you. You lucky lucky thing.
